7 Tips How to Trust Your Path

Most people don’t live into the highest calling of their life because they haven’t learned how to develop the trust they need to follow their soul path.

In this episode, we dive into how you can develop that trust so you can create the life you most desire. I share a personal story about my husband and I turning nomadic and how we had to lean into and trust the path we were on. This story exemplifies what can happen when you surrender to the universe and trust your path. I end by offering 7 Tips on how you can learn to Trust Your Path to be guided by your soul.

Anita Adams:

Welcome to the joyful journey podcast. If

Anita Adams:

you're uncertain about what you really want, or unsure how to be

Anita Adams:

a force for good, you know this world craves, then this is the

Anita Adams:

show for you. I'm Anita Adams, your host and guide to finding

Anita Adams:

clarity and creating a life you love. Let's tap into our inner

Anita Adams:

wisdom, access our highest self and unleash joy. As we raise our

Anita Adams:

vibration, we heighten the collective consciousness and

Anita Adams:

that, my friends, is the joyful journey. Let's dive in. Hey,

Anita Adams:

joyful juniors, I need to Adams here your host of the joyful

Anita Adams:

journey podcast. And today we are going to talk about what it

Anita Adams:

takes to trust your path, listening to your inner wisdom,

Anita Adams:

that sole voice that is guiding you to your highest self. And

Anita Adams:

that grandest version of your life isn't always easy, largely

Anita Adams:

because it takes a whole lot of trust. Trust is defined as the

Anita Adams:

firm belief in the reliability of someone or something. It's

Anita Adams:

the acceptance of the truth of the statement without evidence

Anita Adams:

or investigation. And herein lies the reason why most people

Anita Adams:

don't follow the highest calling of their soul. They want to know

Anita Adams:

beyond any doubt that the path they're on is a reliable one,

Anita Adams:

that it will deliver them exactly to where they want to

Anita Adams:

be. They want to see the destination and the outcome in

Anita Adams:

its perfection. And they want the evidence to be plain and

Anita Adams:

clear that shouts Yes, this path will get you there. I have been

Anita Adams:

guilty of wanting those assurances. Perhaps you have

Anita Adams:

been too. You have an eye on the end goal and you want proof that

Anita Adams:

one, this path will actually get you exactly to where you want to

Anita Adams:

be and to have all the paths to take. You want to know beyond

Anita Adams:

any doubt that the one you are on is actually the best. You

Anita Adams:

can't help wondering if there's a faster or easier way to get

Anita Adams:

there. Although it is important to have a clear vision of where

Anita Adams:

you want to go, part of trusting your path is to be detached from

Anita Adams:

the outcome. Meaning you've got to be alright with the

Anita Adams:

possibility that your path may ultimately take you to a

Anita Adams:

completely different destination. That's a hard one,

Anita Adams:

isn't it? What's more, you've got to let go of how you get

Anita Adams:

there. Sheesh, that's scary, and may even seem impossible to do.

Anita Adams:

I'm telling you though, it is completely within your ability

Anita Adams:

and something you can master with a bit of practice. The

Anita Adams:

first thing you have to do is remember that the universe is

Anita Adams:

conspiring for you, not against you. You must also remember the

Anita Adams:

universe cannot be micromanaged. As I am a self professed control

Anita Adams:

freak, letting go and being in flow is often a challenge for

Anita Adams:

me, I have to constantly remind myself of the things I'm sharing

Anita Adams:

with you today, which is probably why I felt called to do

Anita Adams:

this episode. The times in my life. When I have surrendered to

Anita Adams:

the universe trusted that it would guide me along the right

Anita Adams:

path and let go of attachment to any specific outcome, the

Anita Adams:

universe delivered, and the results were better than I could

Anita Adams:

have ever imagined. An example of this is when my husband and I

Anita Adams:

had to cancel our plans to move the family to India for a year

Anita Adams:

when the pandemic hit. Although there was some initial

Anita Adams:

disappointment about having canceled this trip, something we

Anita Adams:

had been planning and saving for for nearly five years, we were

Anita Adams:

able to let go of our disappointment and move on. It

Anita Adams:

was completely out of our control. So what's the point in

Anita Adams:

wallowing and disappointment. And besides, we had more

Anita Adams:

pressing concerns, like where were we going to live as a lease

Anita Adams:

on our home was about to expire and couldn't be renewed. To say

Anita Adams:

this caused a bit of stress would be an understatement. It

Anita Adams:

was early in the pandemic, there was a lot of fear around the

Anita Adams:

unknown. My business got hit hard financially, and we had to

Anita Adams:

find a new place to live in a market where the prices just

Anita Adams:

kept going up.

Anita Adams:

If you've been listening to any of my other episodes, you

Anita Adams:

already know what I do when I feel stressed or anxious. I head

Anita Adams:

out for a walk in nature. time invested in nature calms the

Anita Adams:

monkey mind, and gives your soul voice space to present

Anita Adams:

solutions. It was during one of my early morning walks in the

Anita Adams:

forest, just behind my house that a solution was presented

Anita Adams:

about our living situation, albeit not a very conventional

Anita Adams:

solution. My sole voice told me to get rid of our possessions

Anita Adams:

and turn nomadic Hmm, interesting idea. And one I sat

Anita Adams:

with for a few weeks to figure out if that was really a soul

Anita Adams:

voice direction, or just a strange fancy of my mind. There

Anita Adams:

are two things I want you to take from that last statement.

Anita Adams:

One, don't immediately dismiss or judge those things that come

Anita Adams:

to you from within and to give yourself space and time to feel

Anita Adams:

your way through the resonance of those whispers. I returned to

Anita Adams:

the forest every day and asked myself Is this what I really

Anita Adams:

want to get rid of my possessions and turn nomadic?

Anita Adams:

Sooner realized, yes. This is what I want. feels right. When I

Anita Adams:

pitched the idea to my husband a few weeks later, he didn't even

Anita Adams:

think about it. He just said, Yeah, let's do it. Sometimes I

Anita Adams:

marveled at that man. He is definitely someone who is in

Anita Adams:

flow in the moment and attached to outcomes and not easily

Anita Adams:

rattled. Maybe that's one of the reasons the universe put them in

Anita Adams:

my life, to teach me how to chill out and just go with the

Anita Adams:

flow. This decision to go nomadic was in the spring of

Anita Adams:

2020. And by July 1, both of our kids had moved out that was a

Anita Adams:

decision by the way that they came to first before we decided

Anita Adams:

to go nomadic. And in July, our possessions were reduced to our

Anita Adams:

outdoor toys and some memory boxes that would fit in a into

Anita Adams:

the smallest storage crate we could get. We were officially

Anita Adams:

homeless. We had a loose plan. We knew what we wanted to do

Anita Adams:

tried living on Bowen Island for a time. And we figured we could

Anita Adams:

have that sorted by September as a lot of places would come

Anita Adams:

available as a summer residents would move off island. So we

Anita Adams:

decided to take the summer to just enjoy. Go camping,

Anita Adams:

kayaking, visit some friends couch surf as needed.

Anita Adams:

On one of my morning walks, I started to imagine the home I'd

Anita Adams:

like to live in and I expressed my desires out loud to the

Anita Adams:

universe and the squirrels that were watching me make my way

Anita Adams:

along the path. Dear universe, I began, I like to find a three

Anita Adams:

bedroom bedroom house on Bowen. I want to pay month to month so

Anita Adams:

no long term commitment, please. It's got to be at least $1,000

Anita Adams:

less than what we've been paying in the city. I need sun and lots

Anita Adams:

of it. So a big sun drenched deck would be awesome. And it

Anita Adams:

would be sweet if we could have an ocean view and our beautiful

Anita Adams:

trees. I love our beautiful trees. Thank you universe. I was

Anita Adams:

energized by this conversation with the universe was fun. I

Anita Adams:

felt like the squirrels were cheering me on to saying yeah,

Anita Adams:

you got this. That very afternoon, we got a call from my

Anita Adams:

mother in law who lives on Bowen. She had been golfing that

Anita Adams:

morning with one of her Island buddies and it turns out her

Anita Adams:

friend was looking for someone to rent her home. We didn't know

Anita Adams:

anything about this place other than it was the right price and

Anita Adams:

big enough to accommodate us and our kids, our kids should they

Anita Adams:

need or want to move back in with us. That night, we were

Anita Adams:

invited over for a glass of wine to check it out. As we were

Anita Adams:

driving to this woman's summer home. My mother in law told us

Anita Adams:

not to agree to anything at our meeting or sign any documents

Anita Adams:

just take your time to consider the offer she advised. As we

Anita Adams:

drove down the winding dirt road through a grove of trees. A

Anita Adams:

charming White House appeared on a high bank overlooking the

Anita Adams:

ocean. My husband and I turned to each other high fived and

Anita Adams:

said in unison we're in. We hadn't even stepped out of the

Anita Adams:

car yet, let alone met the owner or seen the inside of this

Anita Adams:

house. But it felt right. And that view had us mesmerized. It

Anita Adams:

turns out the home was better than the one I shared in my

Anita Adams:

recording West to the universe that morning. Four bedrooms,

Anita Adams:

oceanfront sundrenched decks are beautiful trees, no long term

Anita Adams:

commitment required, and the cost was cut in half from our

Anita Adams:

city rent, I often reflect on how this manifested so

Anita Adams:

beautifully. Having clarity of what you desire is key to be

Anita Adams:

sure. So is having an open and grateful heart. Equally

Anita Adams:

important is your ability to take that leap of faith and

Anita Adams:

trust that it will work out. I recognize that we were in a

Anita Adams:

privileged position, which makes it easier to trust. We had money

Anita Adams:

in the bank, a large support system in place and each other.

Anita Adams:

We weren't doing this on our own. However, there are some

Anita Adams:

clear takeaways in the story that can help anyone, regardless

Anita Adams:

of their particular situation, develop the trust they need to

Anita Adams:

follow their soul path. There are seven takeaways to be exact,

Anita Adams:

and I'll summarize them now. Number one, invest time in you

Anita Adams:

to listen to your soul voice, that inner wisdom that wants to

Anita Adams:

guide you. Check in with it frequently and simply ask, is

Anita Adams:

this mind to do? Number two? Listen to what bubbles up and

Anita Adams:

listen without judgment. If you keep hearing the same answer or

Anita Adams:

get the same feeling that says yes, this is yours to do that

Anita Adams:

confirmation will boost your competence and help you lean in

Anita Adams:

and trust the path. So check in frequently.

Anita Adams:

Number three, visualize the outcome. Although you can't be

Anita Adams:

attached to outcomes, you still need to visualize them. Get

Anita Adams:

super clear on what you want to create for yourself. See it in

Anita Adams:

your mind's eye with as much detail as possible. Number four,

Anita Adams:

have a conversation with the universe about what you want.

Anita Adams:

Ask for it and give thanks for it in the same breath as if you

Anita Adams:

already received it. Number five, commit to taking action.

Anita Adams:

One small baby step every day that will bring you closer to

Anita Adams:

your goal. After a year, that's 365 steps closer. And you'll

Anita Adams:

look back and say Wow, look how far I've come. Number six, let

Anita Adams:

go of the how, when you when you are clear about what you want

Anita Adams:

and why the How will reveal itself. In other words, leave

Anita Adams:

the house to the universe. Number seven, if you feel

Anita Adams:

stressed, or if you doubt your path, get out into nature for a

Anita Adams:

solo walk to quiet the monkey brain and tune in again to your

Anita Adams:

soul voice. And yes, we have come full circle. In fact, I

Anita Adams:

recommend getting out into nature every day by yourself

Anita Adams:

even if just to the local park or stroll through the

Anita Adams:

neighborhood. This will bring you peace of mind and give you a

Anita Adams:

greater sense of clarity and conviction that you are on the

Anita Adams:

right path. The final note I want to leave you with is is

Anita Adams:

that there is a good chance that things won't work out exactly

Anita Adams:

the way you planned. But if you have a little faith and keep

Anita Adams:

showing up, things will likely work out even better than you

Anita Adams:

imagine. So trust the path and let your soul guide guide the

Anita Adams:

way I hope you enjoyed today's episode of The joyful journey
