Quieting the Monkey Brain on the Journey to Enlightenment

Did you know that only 3% of the world’s population is dancing around ‘enlightenment’ as a way of being?That's according to Alan Davidson, the best selling author of the multi award winning book, Body Brilliance: Mastering Your Five Vital Intelligences. He claims that as the number of enlightened people grows another 3 or 4% the problems that plague humanity now will dramatically shift. "As 10% of the world’s population shifts into full enlightened consciousness,” he says “a tipping point of transformation will make life on earth a very different experience.” In today’s episode we talk about how we can play a role in raising the collective conscious by learning to quiet the monkey brain and listen to our soul voice. I argue that the way to enlightenment is on a path through the forest.

more compassionate world. So how do we do that? Exactly? By

walking the path of self actualization, and that path can

be found on a trail through the woods, right? There are many

paths to self actualization, I just happen to like the one

through the forest best. Why? Because when you are in nature,

Anita Adams:

you are more easily able to get present in the here and now. And

Anita Adams:

your presence is key. The monkey brain that we all have, quiets

Anita Adams:

as you actively take in your environment, upsets of the past

Anita Adams:

and worries of the future slip away, even if only for a moment.

Anita Adams:

And it's in these quiet moments of calm where you feel connected

Anita Adams:

to the universe and connected to your higher self. In these

Anita Adams:

moments, you experience inner stillness, and the truth is

Anita Adams:

revealed. The truth about who you are the truth about what you

Anita Adams:

really want the truth that you are one with the universe. Lao

Anita Adams:

Tzu and ancient Chinese philosopher and founder of

Anita Adams:

Taoism says, at the center of your being, you have the answer,

Anita Adams:

you know who you are, and you know what you want. The problem

Anita Adams:

is, most people can't hear the answers coming from the center

Anita Adams:

of their being because of the noise made by the monkey brain.

Anita Adams:

That is either retelling stories of the past things that happened

Anita Adams:

yesterday, last month, or even 10 years ago, or it's fretting

Anita Adams:

about what's going to happen tomorrow or next month or next

Anita Adams:

year. Few people are truly present in the now.

Anita Adams:

It's only when we are fully present, that we can be still

Anita Adams:

and quiet enough to hear our sole voice. That voice that is

Anita Adams:

trying to guide you Me to our higher self. Being in nature

Anita Adams:

helps to quiet that monkey mind so you can get present and hear

Anita Adams:

the guidance of your soul. You have to be intentional about

Anita Adams:

getting present though. Start by making it your intention to

Anita Adams:

connect with your environment by noticing everything using all of

Anita Adams:

your senses. Notice the wind rustle through the trees. Feel

Anita Adams:

the coolness of it on your cheeks. Watch the Ravens ride

Anita Adams:

the updraft, listen to the different and unique noises they

Anita Adams:

make. Feel the bark of a tree on your fingertips. Witness the way

Anita Adams:

the light shimmers as it breaks through the leaves. Smell the

Anita Adams:

blossoms. You may even be able to taste the air. This noticing

Anita Adams:

stops the monkey brain from all its stories of past and future

Anita Adams:

and get you present. In the moment. When this happens, a

Anita Adams:

calmness washes over you and you tap into higher consciousness.

Anita Adams:

You felt this before all of us have those moments of all when

Anita Adams:

time seems to stop. As someone who is on a journey to

Anita Adams:

enlightenment, intentionally creating more of these moments

Anita Adams:

is our task. The more we can quiet the monkey mind, the more

Anita Adams:

we give space for our soul voice to be heard. As we develop this

Anita Adams:

ability to quiet the mind and get present to the moment our

Anita Adams:

listening skills improve. If you listen, really listen, you will

Anita Adams:

be guided by that voice and it will lead you to making choices

Anita Adams:

that are aligned with your most authentic, highest self. Those

Anita Adams:

choices will then lead you to creating a life you absolutely

Anita Adams:

love. And as you operate from this higher vibrational

Anita Adams:

frequency, you'll shine so bright that your light will show

Anita Adams:

the way for others. In this way, by simply investing time to get

Anita Adams:

present to quiet the monkey mind and make space for your sole

Anita Adams:

voice to be heard. You will be moving our world to a heightened

Anita Adams:

consciousness as more people take notice and will want what

Anita Adams:

you have. And what do you have a joy that has sprung up from

Anita Adams:

within. This is not a joy from things from possessions,

Anita Adams:

experiences or relationships. This is a joy that is more

Anita Adams:

eternal. It's the joy of knowing who you really are and what you

Anita Adams:

want. And that knowledge comes from listening to your soul. At

Anita Adams:

the center of your being, you have the answer. The Stepping

Anita Adams:

into nature to find enlightenment sounds too simple

Anita Adams:

to be true. It is simple. And that's the beauty of it. Yet

Anita Adams:

many people will not make the time to do this because they

Anita Adams:

believe they are too busy to step away from all the things

Anita Adams:

that are pulling at them. The truth is, when you make this

Anita Adams:

time to quiet the monkey brain and get present, you will reduce

Anita Adams:

your stress. And with that, find more clarity. And with that

Anita Adams:

become more productive. taking time away from your busyness is

Anita Adams:

exactly what the busiest people need to do. I invite you to try

Anita Adams:

a little experiment, a 30 day challenge. Commit to solo time

Anita Adams:

in nature for just 20 to 30 minutes every day for 30 days to

Anita Adams:

get present. And check in with your inner being your heart,

Anita Adams:

your soul, and I promise you'll be less stress, less anxious,

Anita Adams:

more present more focused more productive. You'll discover you

Anita Adams:

have more time to do the things you love and you'll feel a joy

Anita Adams:

bubbling up from within.

Anita Adams:

I recognize access to a forest is not easily within everyone's

Anita Adams:

grasp. You don't need to walk among giant Douglas firs to get

Anita Adams:

present. Go to a local park. Walk through your neighborhood

Anita Adams:

or sit on your balcony. The point is to step away and unplug

Anita Adams:

from the daily grind and connect With your environment, by

Anita Adams:

getting present to the now you are making space for your sole

Anita Adams:

voice to be heard. And that is your journey to enlightenment

Anita Adams:

and to raising the collective consciousness. In so doing, you

Anita Adams:

are creating a better life and a better world. Are you up for
